        This is a disappointing and fluffy book on the battles for Bataan and Corregidor in One other reviewer claims that it is the "best" book on Bataan, but it would not even be in the top The book only has one feature in it that might be at all redeeming, which is that it interviews some (American only) veterans of the Philippines.   It is possible to buy volumes devoted to Bataan’s nurses, its military chaplains and, in Hampton Sides’s best-selling book, “Ghost Soldiers,” the men who rescued its survivors.

This is an excellent work on the battle of Bataan, scholarly and thorough. Written primarily from the American side, it presents the battle as even-handedly as possible. My only criticism is that the author stopped with the surrender of all forces on Bataan, and did not include the death march or the battle for Corregidor/5(9).
